The Next Fujifilm APS-C Camera: Fujifilm X-T50

Fuji Rumors recently released information about the upcoming Fujifilm X-T50, which is set to succeed the X-T30II. Contrary to expectations, there will be no X-T40, Fujifilm has opted to name their latest model the X-T50. This decision aligns with the camera’s advancements, featuring a 5th generation image processing engine.

While the X-H2, X-H2S, and X-S20 also boast fifth-generation technology, they do not include the number “5” in their names. This naming convention suggests a logical progression, avoiding a significant leap from the X-H1/X-S10 to the X-H5/X-S50. Thus, the X-T50 designation for the successor to the X-T30II seems fitting.

Speculations about the X-T50 include the possibility of it being equipped with In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS), along with upgrades to the sensor and image processing engine. The numbering scheme for this series positions it as a more affordable alternative to the “X-Tx” line, following the pattern of “X-T2 / X-T20” and “X-T3 / X-T30.” The absence of a product equivalent to a lower-tier model of the X-T4 makes the transition to “X-T5 / X-T50″ seem like a natural progression.

The exact details of the new X-T50 remain unknown, but many are eager to see whether it will retain its predecessor’s design while upgrading its core features, or if it will introduce new elements like in-body image stabilization.
