Rumored Canon Camera Roadmap 2024

Canon is planning to announce several new Canon RF mount mirrorless cameras, vlogging cameras and RF lenses in 2024. Here is the rumored Canon Camera Roadmap for 2024:

Canon EOS R1

The Canon EOS R1 flagship full frame mirrorless camera is expected to be announced in 2024, just ahead of 2024 Summer Olympics, to compete with Nikon Z9 and Sony a1.

Canon has delayed the release date of the EOS R1 until the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, which will be hosted in France in 2024. The Canon EOS R1 camera is scheduled to be showcased ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.

The delay of the Canon EOS R1 is because Canon plans to expand the RF mount lineup with more affordable cameras first, including the newly announced Canon EOS R8, EOS R50 and EOS R100.

Canon EOS R1 Rumors Specs:

  • Announcement in 2024, just ahead of 2024 Summer Olympics
  • 85MP Sensor
  • 24fps RAW shooting
  • Improved dynamic range
  • No Global shutter
  • Higher resolution than EOS R5
  • A camera that leaves other competing models behind
  • There is a possibility that it will be developed and announced together with the DO super telephoto lens

Canon EOS R5 S

The Canon EOS R5 S is expected to be a high-resolution full frame mirrorless camera to compete with Sony a7R V. The official announcement will be in late 2023 to early 2024.

The exact specifications of the rumored high-resolution model remain a mystery, with various rumors circulating about the number of pixels it will have. Some sources suggest that it could have as many as 100 million pixels, while others predict that it will have 90 or 75 million pixels. Regardless of the final number, it is clear that Canon is working hard to push the boundaries of what is possible with mirrorless cameras, and photographers around the world are eagerly anticipating the release of these new models.

Canon EOS R5 Mark II

The highly anticipated Canon EOS R5 Mark II is on its way, and all signs point to its arrival before the much-talked-about EOS R1. The official announcement will be in the Q4 of 2023 to replace the current Canon EOS R5.

While details about the EOS R5 Mark II’s specifications are still scarce, it is unlikely to see a substantial increase in resolution. The current 45-megapixel resolution is considered by many to be the sweet spot, striking an optimal balance between image quality and file size. This decision by Canon should be embraced, as it ensures photographers can continue to enjoy exceptional results without sacrificing performance or storage efficiency.

Canon EOS R7 C

Canon EOS R7 C, the cinema version of current EOS R7 APS-C mirrorless camera, is expected to be released in 2024.
