Canon RF 85mm f/1.8 & RF 100mm f/2.8 Lens Patents

Two new Canon RF lens patents have been filed for Canon EOS R and EOS RP mirrorless cameras: RF 85mm f/1.8 and RF 100mm f/2.8. These are probably non-L lenses and we hope the 100mm is a macro glass. See the patent details below:

Focal length: 84.05 mm
F number: 1.86
Half angle of view: 14.44
Image height: 21.64 mm
Lens length: 100.02 mm
Back focus: 14.64 mm

 

Embodiment 4: RF 100mm F2.8
Focal length: 101.03 mm
F number: 2.88
Half angle of view: 12.09
Image height: 21.64 mm
Lens length: 130.45 mm
Back focus: 18.70 mm

 

Canon will have the new product announcements on Monday, April 20, 2020, at 1:00 PM EDT/10:00 AM PT. And we will see the highly anticipated Canon EOS R5, Canon EOS R6, Canon Cinema EOS C300 Mark II Camcorder and a new Cinema lens on that day. In addition, Canon will announce a total of 7 RF lenses and 2 Extenders in 2020.
