Sony A9 Rumored Specs: Dual XQD Card Slot, Unlimited RAW Shooting

The rumor mill is back with some information about a camera called Sony A9 (Sony Alpha 9), which will be placed above the A7-series and which will be aimed at professional action and sports photographers.

First of all, the new Sony A9 is a full frame mirrorless camera, and it is compatible with E-mount lenses. The new Sony A9 will be placed above the A7-series, so it will be the new flagship FE camera. But the new Sony A9 mirrorless camera will be a “DSLR” alike sized camera, bigger than the current A7-series. The main competitors of Sony A9 are Nikon D5 and Canon EOS 1D-X Mark II.

Second, the speed of the camera, according to the rumor from SonyAlphaRumors, the new Sony A9 mirrorless camera will have dual XQD card slot, no CFast version, Both slots will support only XQD cards. And the new Sony A9 will be capable of Unlimited RAW shooting, Unlimited! That means it can captur unlimited RAW photos in continuous shooting mode and it won’t pause for buffering. So Amazing!

Currently, the announcement date of Sony A9 mirrorless camera is still unknown. It seems that Sony won’t announce the new flagship A9 mirrorless camera in the near future since the Sony A7-series are selling really great!
