Confirmed: Sony FE 24-50mm f/2.8 G Lens to be Announced on February 21

It has been confirmed that the long-rumored Sony FE 24-50mm f/2.8 G Lens will be announced on February 21st. Although the exact concept remains ambiguous, speculation suggests it might be a compact, lightweight lens tailored for video shooting, similar to the 24mm F2.8 G and 40mm F2.5 G models. There’s also uncertainty surrounding the potential announcement of the “FE 16-25mm F2.8 G,” a subject that has garnered considerable attention in the past.

Regarding the new Sony a1 firmware, its release date remains uncertain, leaving open the question of whether it will precede or follow the February 21st announcement. Furthermore, anticipation builds for another Sony event slated for March, where the Sony ZV-E10 II might see its unveiling.

In addition to these developments, Sigma is poised to unveil its 500mm F5.6 lens on February 21st, adding to the flurry of announcements in the photography world.
