Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens is on the way

On July 9th Canon officially announced the Canon EOS R5, Canon EOS R6, 4 New RF Lenses (RF 85mm f/2 Macro, 600mm f/11, 800mm f/11 & 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L) and 2 Teleconverters (RF 1.4x & 2x). But according to the Canon RF lens roadmap for 2020, Canon is still planning to announce two new RF lenses in the next several months: RF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens and RF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens.

Recently, two new lenses with SKUs 4514C005 and 4515C005 have been registered with overseas certification bodies. And it seems the “4515C005” refers to the upcoming Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens, and a patent for a variety of designs for an RF 50mm f/1.8 was previously spotted.

Anyway, hope we can see the official announcement of the Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens before the end of 2020.
