Canon Japan Officially Discontinued Three EF Lenses
Canon Japan has officially discontinued the following three EF lenses:
- Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM (Replaced by the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM)
- Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM (Replaced by the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM)
- Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM (Currently no replacement)
The first two of these three discontinued lenses have been replaced by the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II and 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM. So it seems that Canon will release a new EF lens to releace the EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM lens in the near future. Stay tuned!
In addition, Canon is still actively working on the new EF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM lens, which is expected to be announced in late 2017 or 2018.
