Sony RX10 V Rumored to be Announced in Late 2022

According to the latest rumors surfaced on the web, Sony is planning to launch a new RX10 V telephoto fixed-lens camera by the end of 2022. Currently, the market for integrated lens cameras is significantly smaller than before, but there is still a certain market demand for this type of camera, and the new Sony RX10 V camera is expected to improve AI intelligent algorithms, ergonomic improvements, cancel flash lights and improve batteries. Of course, the maximum continuous shooting speed will definitely be upgraded to meet the needs of users who need compact and portable telephoto shooting.

Sony RX10 V Rumored Specifications:

  • AI and computational photography technology
  • Real-time tracking, animal-eye AF / bird-eye AF
  • Improved ergonomic design
  • UHD 4K30 Video
  • 24 fps Continuous Shooting
  • ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* f/2.4-4 Zoom Lens
  • 24-600mm (35mm Equivalent)
  • Removal of the on-camera flash
  • Blackout free EVF
  • NP-FZ100 battery (a6600 battery)
  • Built-In Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

If this rumor is correct, it’s a legitimate successor to the RX10 IV. Equipped with real-time tracking, animal-eye AF / bird-eye AF, Z battery, etc., it seems to be a very attractive camera. If the operability is also improved, some people may switch from the RX10 IV.

However, don’t expect too much from the appearance of such a camera. Looking at other companies, no manufacturer has introduced a new model of bridge camera. Although a camera equipped with a high-magnification zoom can be distinguished from a smartphone, it is an area where “a mirrorless camera is okay” considering the size and price of the camera.

Sony RX10 IV: $1,698 at Amazon, B&H, Adorama.
