Sony A9 Will Get S-Log and Picture Profiles (via Firmware Update)

Sony support at the B&H Photo Q&A page confirmed that Sony a9 will have S-Log, probably via the next firmware update.

“Hi James, it does not have a ProRes 422 option. Does not do 10 bit color. It will have log profile. -Anthony”

In addition, CameraJabber had a chance to interview with Sony manager Yosuke Aoki and wrote:

“I got the distinct impression that a firmware upgrade is in the pipeline rather than remote possibility. We didn’t discuss it at the time but I strongly suspect (hope) that Sony might also take the opportunity to add Picture Profiles and S-Log mode to make the camera more appealing to videographers.”

If this turns out to be true, the new Sony a9 will be more appealing to lots of wedding photographers, videographers and sports shooters.
