Sony A9 Will Be Bigger Than A7RII, Smaller Than Canon 5D Mark III

Aimed at professional action and sports photographers, the new Sony A9 full frame mirrorless camera will be placed above the A7-series and it is compatible with E-mount lenses. We already reported that the new Sony A9 mirrorless camera will be a “DSLR” alike sized camera, bigger than the current A7-series. The main competitors of Sony A9 are Nikon D5 and Canon EOS 1D-X Mark II.

The previous rumor said the new Sony A9 mirrorless camera will have dual XQD card slot and it will be capable of Unlimited RAW shooting! Today according to a report from SonyAlphaRumors, the size of the upcoming Sony A9 camera will be bigger than Sony A7RII, smaller than conventional DSLR (such as Canon EOS 5D Mark III).

Currently, the announcement date of Sony A9 mirrorless camera is still unknown. Sony press conference at the NAB show will be live on April 17 at 2pm Las Vegas time. I believe Sony will announce several new products, but the Sony A9? I don’t think Sony will unveil the new Sony A9 flagship FE camera at NAB show since the Sony A7-series are selling really great! Maybe Sony A9 will be announced in September at Photokina 2016.
