Sony a7000 High End APS-C Mirrorless Camera to be Announced before Christmas?

Sony a7000 concept by David Cooper

Sony currently has no APS-C format mirrorless camera to compete again the Fujifilm X-T3, which comes with 26.1MP APS-C Sensor, X-Processor 4 with Quad CPU, 30 fps shooting at a 1.25x crop and electronic shutter, and internal 4K60p 10-bit video recording. We know Sony didn’t directly announce anything new at Photokina 2018 in September, so it is highly likely that Sony will announce the new high-end APS-C mirrorless camera (probably Sony a7000) in the next several weeks just before Christmas, maybe at PhotoPlus 2018 next week or sometime in November.

To compete against the new Fujifim X-T3, the Sony a7000 is rumored to feature 20fps Shooting and Internal UHD 4K Video Recording, just like a “baby Sony a9” – and it will have the EVF in the middle just like the current Sony a7 & a9 series full frame mirrorless camera. Here is a recap from SAR:

  • This is not an A6500 successor
  • This is a new kind of APS-C camera
  • The EVF is in the center
  • It’s a sort of “mini-A9
  • It matches and in some aspects (like AF and IBIS) exceed the Fuji X-T3 performance
  • It has 20fps
