It is confirmed that Sigma will announce the new Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art II lens on May 16, 2024. Here are the detailed specifications and key features of the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art II Lens:

  • Ultra-fast autofocus with HLA motor: autofocus is three times faster, guaranteeing fast and accurate still and video capture.
  • It incorporates an aperture ring with click override option for video and an additional AFL button that facilitates vertical shooting. These new features and the zoom lock ensure high operability and fast response.

  • Sensor coverage: Full frame
  • Aperture range: F2.8 – F22
  • Optical construction: 19 elements, 15 groups
  • Minimum focusing distance: 17 – 34 cm
  • Filter or cap diameter: 82 mm
  • Dimensions (Sony E): 87.8 x 122.2 mm
  • Weight (Sony E): 735 g

Compared to the current model, the new Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 Art II has exactly the same maximum diameter, is 0.7mm shorter in overall length, and weighs 95g less. Although the size is almost the same, it seems to be significantly lighter. The number of FLDs and SLDs are the same as the current model, but the number of aspherical lenses has increased from three to five. It is said to improve coma flare, so it seems to be good for night views and starry shots. Also, AF seems to be greatly improved by adopting a linear motor.
