Production of the Canon EOS R5 & EOS R6 Delayed

The production of the Canon EOS R5 and Canon EOS R6 has been delayed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19). Less than 1/4 of Canon’s manufacturing capacity has been impacted because of the supply chain issues from the Coronavirus. This will lead to obvious production issues of the Canon EOS R5 and Canon EOS R6.

So, Canon is considering changing the release date of Canon EOS R5 and Canon EOS R6. The Canon EOS R5 was originally scheduled to start shipping in July while the Canon EOS R6 is rumored to begin shipping in June 2020. But now, due to the coronavirus, Canon will probably release both cameras in fall 2020 (likely October 2020) in good quantity.

Here is what we know so far about the Canon EOS R5:

  • Newly designed CMOS sensor (we’re guessing ~40MP)
  • 8K Video Capture
  • 20 fps high-speed continuous shooting (Electric Shutter)
  • 12 fps high-speed continuous shooting (Mechanical Shutter)
  • High-performance coordinated image stabilization (IS)
  • Dual media card slots
  • RF-Mount
