Panasonic GH5 Rumored to Feature Sony’s High-End M43 Sensor

It is confirmed that the upcoming Panasonic GH5 camera will NOT have a super 35 sensor and it will be a 6K capable interchangeable lens MFT mirrorless camera.

The rumor mill said the Panasonic GH5 camera is capable of recording 6K videos at 30fps and, respectively, 4K movies at 60fps. And it will be able to extract 18-megapixel stills while recording videos. This would require a higher-resolution sensor than the 16-megapixel unit found in the Lumix GH4 ($1,297 at Amazon, B&H, Adorama).

According to a rumor coming out of 43rumors, the upcoming Panasonic GH5 camera will feature Sony’s 18.9mm*13mm M43 sensor. This sensor will be very high-end, and it can support for ultra-high-speed 24 channel super fast readout that even BIONZX could not keep up with. If Panasonic GH5 camera turned out to be capable of recording 6K videos at 30fps and 4K movies at 60fps, it really needs this high-end sensor’s super fast reading speed.

By the way, Panasonic GH5 camera is expected to be annnounced at Photokina 2016 in September.
