New Canon Super Telephoto Lens Coming Soon?

We have received information that an RF mount version of the popular super telephoto lens will be released with a new optical system in the near future.

Canon has certainly been busy lately with the flurry of patents and rumors regarding their upcoming ‘big white’ lenses. From the RF 200-500mm f/4L 1.4x to the RF 500mm f/4L IS USM, and even the designs of the RF 600mm f/11 and RF 800mm f/11, the company has confessed that more lenses like these are in the works. Additionally, sources have revealed that a “popular” super telephoto lens is slated to receive an RF mount and be given a totally new design; although exactly which lens it is remains a mystery that may be unveiled in the coming months.

If we were to venture a guess, it appears that RF counterparts of the EF 200-400mm f/4L IS 1.4x and the EF 500mm f/4L IS USM II are necessary.

Canon is scheduled to announce its financial results on January 30th, and CP+ 2023 will be held from February 23rd to 26th. Stay tuned for more info.
