Canon is currently working hard on a new RF 70-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens for Canon EOS R and EOS RP mirrorless cameras, which is expected to be announced sometime this year. The exact announcement date is still unknown at the time of writing.

Back in September, Canon filed a lens patent for this RF 70-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens.

And the source said this Canon RF 70-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens is expected to have the same size as the new RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM lens.
