Canon Speedlite EL-10: $249 at B&H, Adorama.

Introducing the RF 35mm F1.4L VCM

This hybrid lens offers creatives the versatility to elevate their artistry in both stills and video. As part of an expanding lineup, this lens uniquely functions as two lenses in one. It is the only RF prime lens featuring a dedicated iris control ring for video, and its 11-blade aperture delivers smooth out-of-focus areas, helping to isolate subjects from the background or foreground. Minimal focus breathing reduces visual distractions during focus transitions, making it ideal for events like weddings or street documentaries, providing a seamless experience across both stills and motion.

The 35mm focal length is perfect for wide-angle needs, from group shots at events to reportage-style street photography. The f/1.4 aperture allows for depth of field control, ensuring outstanding creative performance even in low-light conditions such as the golden hour or night scenes. Additionally, the prime lens design includes options for both front and rear filters, offering extra creative flexibility.

Designed for photojournalists and content creators, this lens ensures no moment is missed. The combination of fast Nano USM and even faster Voice Coil Motor (VCM) technology provides quick and precise focusing, crucial for capturing fast-paced subjects like children or pets, and for smooth video recording. The dedicated Lens Control Ring and customizable Lens Function Button allow photographers and videographers to stay immersed in the action while adjusting settings.

For challenging environments, the L-series design housing offers durability. A fluorine coating repels dirt and sand from the front element, and its lightweight design (lighter than its EF predecessor) ensures comfortable long-period shooting in the field. Aspheric and UD lens elements, with Super Spectra and ASC coatings, provide crystal-clear images without flare and ghosting, even in bright sunlight.

Introducing the Canon Speedlite EL-10

Canon also introduces the Speedlite EL-10, a lightweight, compact, and affordable addition to the EL range, designed to foster creativity. With a leading 1.5-second recharge time, the Speedlite EL-10 integrates seamlessly with features like linked custom modes and remote flash control.

Enhanced communication through the multifunction shoe interface makes the shooting experience smoother. Linked custom shooting modes adapt to changing conditions, such as moving from sunlight to shadow or adjusting to varying color tones in fashion shoots. Settings can be remotely controlled via the Camera Connect smartphone app, ensuring synchronized responses from the camera and Speedlite.

Offering 24-105mm zoom coverage and a versatile power range, the Speedlite EL-10 allows content creators to master their lighting, adding professional touches to images, whether enhancing a subject’s eye glimmer or using soft flash for moody portraits. Weighing just 284g and powered by four AA batteries, it is ideal for everyday use.

Through the combined versatility and functionality of the RF 35mm F1.4L VCM and Speedlite EL-10, Canon continues to empower content creators to push their creative boundaries. Demonstrating a commitment to expanding the professional RF lens range, Canon confirms the development of additional L series zoom and prime lenses with iris rings and size uniformity, sharing the same hybrid stills/video concept as the RF 35mm F1.4L VCM.
