Canon EOS R7, EOS R8 & EOS R9 APS-C Mirrorless Cameras Coming?

More and more information about the Canon APS-C RF Mount cameras has been coming out and it seems that Canon is planning to announce three new APS-C format RF mount mirrorless cameras in the next 1-2 years.

Canon EOS R7: The first Canon RF mount camera with an APS-C image sensor. It is already undergoing testing in the field by a select group of photographers. The official announcement will come as soon as Q4 of 2021, or Q1 in 2022. The source claims that the Canon EOS R7 APS-C RF mount camera will be “directly aimed at sports, wildlife and videography”, to replace the Canon EOS 7D Mark II? And this Canon EOS R7 is rumored to have a 32.5MP APS-C CMOS sensor, DIGIC X Image Processor, 5-Axis IBIS and UHD 4K60p & Full HD 120p video and more.

Canon EOS R8: The second Canon APS-C RF mount mirrorless camera. This camera will be designed for vloggers and other types of social media creators.

Canon EOS R9: The third Canon APS-C RF mount mirrorless camera. This will be the entry-level camera to the EOS R system.

If this information is true, the EOS M system will definitely come to an end. The EOS M system has some models that have sold quite well in the last few years, so we need to keep those customers. Keeping the EOS M and EOS R alive may not make sense from an economic point of view.

The EF-M lens doesn’t support RF mounts, but there is a solution to this problem. In the past, I’ve seen a patent that Canon moves the sensor inside the body. I’m not saying that this patent will be commercialized, but such technology could allow EF-M lenses to be used with RF mounts. This info is still NOT confirmed by trusted sources, so just treat this information accordingly.

The Canon EOS R5 and Canon EOS R6 are now selling like hot cakes, order now if you are interested.

Canon EOS R5 body: $3,899 at AmazonB&HAdorama.

Canon EOS R6 body: $2,499 at AmazonB&HAdorama.
