Canon EOS-R1 (Mirrorless Version of the EOS-1D X Mark III) Coming in 2021

Several days ago we reported that Sony is working on a new $5,999 flagship full frame E-mount mirrorless camera (sitting above the current Sony a9 II) with a bigger and truly pro body, intergrated battery grip, larger battery, and 8K video recording with no overheating.

Now the latest rumor suggests Canon will definitely be announcing an RF mount mirrorless version of the EOS-1D X Mark III in 2021, probably in the second half of 2021, just before the Tokyo Olympics 2021 in Summer. And this flagship Canon mirrorless body could be named “Canon EOS-R1“.

Currently, the detailed specs are still unknown at the tome of writing, but the Canon EOS-R1 WILL NOT recycle the EOS-1D X Mark III sensor.

In addition, Canon is working on a high-resolution 90MP Canon EOS R5S and a video-oriented Canon EOS R5C (might be around 11.25MP) mirrorless camera.

The Canon EOS R5 and Canon EOS R6 are selling like hot cakes. So, if you are interested or want to get as far to the front of the list as you can, you should probably go ahead and pre-order now.
