Canon EOS 5D Mark IV Rumored to be Announced around NAB 2016

The latest rumors said that the upcoming Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR camera will be announced around NAB 2016. The previous rumor said the 5D Mark IV DSLR camera will shoot 4K video footage and it will NOT be announced before the EOS-1D X Mark II begins shipping, which is expected in April.

2016 NAB Show event is scheduled to begin on April 16 for press folks, while regular visitors can check out the latest videography products as of April 18. The exhibition will be located at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. So, if the rumors are ture, the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV should be announced in April.

Below are the previous rumored specs of Canon EOS 5D Mark IV:

  • 28mp
  • 9fps
  • DIGIC 6+ (They won’t launch DIGIC 7 so closely to a flagship camera)
  • 61 point AF
  • CFast & SD
  • Touchscreen
  • Built-in GPS & Wifi
  • Lighter weight

This is just a rumor, it is not confirmed by trusted sources, so just take it with a grain of salt.

Canon EOS 5D Mark III ($2,499) is a great all-around camera, but it is not perfect and it is three-and-a-half years old. These days Sony and Fujifilm have vaulted ahead in the innovation game. So, if the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV doesn’t have enough revolutionary upgrade in performance, people will look elsewhere for a camera body solution, like Sony a7RII, Nikon D810. So Canon will have to be careful about the choices made in this camera.

In addition, we have heard several times in the past that Canon is planning to release an 8K camcorder, now it seems that is true. The latest rumors said that Canon will announce the new EOS C500 Mark II camcorder at the NAB Show 2016 in April. And the new Canon EOS C500 Mark II is expected to be able to record videos at 8K resolution.
