Canon EOS 5D Mark IV Coming at Photokina 2016, Price around $3500

Photoshopped Canon 5D Mark IV

It is already confirmed that Canon EOS 5D Mark III successor will be called “EOS 5D Mark IV“, and according to the report from CanonRumors,  the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR camera will be announced in late August/early September for Photokina 2016, probably around sometime before 2016 Photokina show and showcased at Photokina 2016 in September. I think Canon will release the 5D Mark IV very soon after its announcement, most likely in late October.

The most interesting thing is what Canon does finally unveil when the 5D Mark IV is announced. You know the competition is very tough and these days Sony and Fujifilm have vaulted ahead in the innovation game. So, if the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV doesn’t have enough revolutionary upgrade in performance, people will look elsewhere for a camera body solution, like Sony a7RIINikon D810. So Canon will have to be careful about the choices made in this camera.

Several improvements will be made to the 5D Mark IV when it comes to its specifications. The previous report said that this new 5D Mark IV is designed for videographers and filmmakers and it will have the best video features in the entire Canon lineup (not including the cinema line). And it is expected to have a new sensor, more megapixels, increased dynamic range and a higher maximum ISO sensitivity. And here are the rumored specs of Canon EOS 5D Mark IV:

  • 28mp
  • 9fps
  • DIGIC 6+
  • 61 point AF
  • 4K Video
  • Touchscreen
  • Built-in GPS & Wifi
  • CFast & SD
  • Lighter weight

And then, the other important point: the price. The EOS 5D Mark IV camera body is expected to be priced at $3500 USD, which is identical to the EOS 5D Mark III at launch. So, if you are interested, I think you should save your money and just wait for this upcoming great camera.

Although the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV will not be unveiled at 2016 NAB Show event, Canon will reveal some information about the DSLR to some insiders. So, stay tuned for more info.
