Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM Lens Rumored to be Announced in 2017

The Current Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens

Nikon already released the new AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR lens ($2,796) to update the 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II lens ($2,096). Now it seems that Canon is planning to release a new EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM lens sometime in 2017.

According to the report from CanonRumors, Canon is currently working on a successor of EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II ($1,949), which was announced in March 2010. This new EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II replacement is expected to be announced sometime in 2017. The aperture is still unknown, but it is highly likely that it will be f/2.8 (or maybe f/4). And the rumors said this Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III lens will have a new IS system, improved optical and it will be a little bit lighter.

This is the first time we’ve heard of such a lens coming. None is confirmed anyway so it’s best to take reports with a pinch of salt.
