Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III Coming with 1D X Mark II or 5D Mark IV in 2016

We know that the next L lens from Canon will be a fast zoom (f/2.8), and it should be Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III lens. The previous rumor said Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM Lens, the replacement of current Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II lens, is rumored to be announced before the end of 2015 and it will feature Canon’s new Blue Spectrum Refractive (BR) element. The announcement may also delayed to early 2016.

Today’s rumor from CR said that the new Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III will be announced in 2016 together with one of Canon’s new “pro” body (Canon 1D X Mark II or Canon 5D Mark IV).

Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III Rumored Specs:

  • Slightly longer and a bit heavier than the current Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II lens
  • 82mm filter thread diameter
  • Improved weather sealing, durability and optics features
  • Unique lens hood
