The Updated Canon Roadmap 2017

In February 2017 Canon already announced the new Canon EOS 77D & Rebel T7i DSLR cameras, EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens and the Canon EOS M6 mirrorless camera. The next big announcement from Canon should be the Canon EOS 6D Mark II and Canon EOS Rebel SL2. And Canon will unveil a new EF-S wide-angle prime lens on on April 5, 2017.

Here is the updated Canon roadmap 2017:

DSLRs:

Canon EOS 6D Mark II: The most anticipated DSLR from Canon this year. It is expected to be announced in Q2 of 2017, probably after NAB 2017 in April.

Canon EOS Rebel SL2: It will replace the current smallest DSLR (Canon EOS Rebel SL1) in the lineup in 2017. And it will likely have the same specs as the Canon EOS Rebel T7i. The most interesting thing I want to know is if the Rebel SL2 can the smallest DSLR camera.

Lenses:

Canon EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM: A highly anticipated lens and we expect it to come around sometime in Q3 of 2017.

New Canon EF-S Wide-Angle Prime: to be announced on April 5, 2017.

Canon 135mm: to be announced in Q4 of 2017.

Cinema EOS:

Canon Cinema EOS CXXX Camera: A new Cinema EOS camera below the EOS C300 Mark II is coming in 2017. It will not be called the C100 Mark III. Announcement in Q3/Q4.

Canon Cinema Lenses: We expect to see at least one prime cinema lens announced for NAB next month.

What’s not coming?

  • Canon EF 600mm f/4 DO IS
  • Canon EOS-1D C Mark II
  • Canon EOS 5DS (R) Make II
