Sony is allegedly working on a new medium format mirrorless camera – it will be the world’s first mirrorless medium format camera from Sony, and this new Sony medium format mirrorless camera is expected to be unveiled at Photokina 2016 this September.
And according to the report from SonyAlphaRumors, Sony will announce a new medium format mirrorless camera at Photokina 2016 together with a bunch of new lenses for this new format. It seems that Hasselblad should be to “blame” for this project. we know Hasselblad announced the new 100-megapixel sensor (supplied by Sony) H6D-100c, but the new Hasselblad H6D-100c doesn’t have 4K feature and the Phocus image processing software couldn’t process the raw files. So, Sony decides to make its own medium format camera.
One problem with this rumor is the face that Sony is also working on the new flagship A9 mirrorless camera which is rumored for the Photokina 2016, it is unlikely that Sony will announce both the flagship A9 mirrorless camera and the new 100-megapixel sensor medium format mirrorless camera at Photokina…Maybe, there is a possibility that the new Sony medium format mirrorless camera is the Sony A9…
By the way, we are still waiting for Sony’s new filagship A-mount camera, let’s wait until photokina.
