Sony A6300 Overheating Solved? 5 Tips to Increase the 4K Recording Time

The Sony A6300 mirrorless camera is slowly shipping out and some of the first A6300 users said that the new Sony A6300 camera had overheating issues during 4K video recording. I don’t know if your Sony a6300 has the overheating issues, but two friends have not experienced overheating with the a6300 yet. I know that overheating issues with Sony cameras are nothing new and any new camera are not perfect. So, I hope Sony can fix the overheating issues via firmware upgrade very very soon.

That1cameraguy posted a video showing us several tips to increase the 4k recording time on the Sony a6300. The main tool to help with overheating is talked about at 4:21 for those of you wanting to jump to that part. The cage he used is: Smallrig Camera Cage for Sony A6300/A6000 ($74.99).

Before I had the cage, I would charge externally while having the battery door open and screen out. The camera would still overheat after about 2-3 sessions of 30 minutes. However, once I got the cage, charging externally and using the techniques that I mention in the video, I was able to get through 3 hours. I’m guessing theirs some variation on the cameras which give varying results.

I hope the way he mentioned really works, so it can help you to solve your Sony A6300 overheating issues.
