Sony A6100 / A7000 Delayed, to be Released in 2016

The new Sony A6000 series camera (named Sony A6100 or A7000), is delayed and this new Sony E-mount mirrorless camera is rumored to be released sometime in 2016 instead of late 2015, according to the latest sony rumors.

According to the info from Ricoh and Nikon sources, Sony has developed a new sensor for the A7000 / A6100, and this new sensor could be used by other companies six months after the Sony A7000 announcement. So, Sony A7000 / A6100 is delayed, and Sony has changed their product roadmap since the new A6000 series camera was set to be announced with the new Sony a7RII, RX10 II and RX100 IV. And, we have to wait until 2016 to use the new Sony APS-C sensor with hybrid autofocus tech.

The previous rumors said the new Sony A6000 series camera could have 4K video recording, weather sealed and the fastest autofocus in the world.

About the name: The name of this new Sony E-mount mirrorless camera is not confirmed yet. The first rumored name is Sony a6100, then Sony a7000, but it is a real new a6000 series camera.

Stay tuned for more info.

    A6000 II
    Would be a good name.

    • vau

      Or simply A6, A5, A6 MkII., A5 MkII, etc.

We are going to end up with something like ILCE-RX-A63 RS II-X anyway…

I agree. Sony needs to clean up there camera names. Not that they’re the only company that doesn’t make any sense with names. Why in the hell a Canon 6D is lower end than a 5D, and a 70D is higher end than a 760D… I just will never understand their marketing team. You pretty much know the next iPhone is going to be an iPhone 7. Then a 7s. And so on and so on. Why the camera companies can’t figure out a simple numeric system is beyond me. What if Sony did this with Playstations? Playstation 4000, which is lower end than the Playstation 3r MII.

          Well said, mate.

weather sealing would make this my next camera for sure. I just won’t buy a camera unless it’s weather sealed.

    • bobbert

Lets hope weather sealing doesn’t create any overheating issues. Not sure if it was an issue on the a6000 but I hear on the RX M4 it was.
