Sigma Will Stop Making Some of Sony A-mount Lenses
It seems that Sigma will stop making some of their Sony A-mount lenses.
According to the report from DIYPhotography, Sigma is stopping to make some of the Sony mount lenses (all these lenses are Sony A-mount lenses). The first batch of Sigma lenses that will no longer be made for Sony are:
- Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro
- Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 APO EX DG HSM OS FLD
- Sigma 150mm F2.8 APO EX DG OS HSM Macro
- Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 AF II DG HSM
And the Sony ART class lenses are still in production. So, I think this is just a simple product discontinued notice. Do NOT read an awfull lot into it. Sigma recently announced 8 High Speed Cinema Lenses, including 3 zoom lenses and 5 prime lenses. And Sigma’s CEO Mr. Kazuto Yamaki confirmed that Sigma has the plan to make FE lenses for Sony full frame E-mount mirrorless cameras.
Stay tuned for more info.
