Sigma CEO Confirms Again They Are Making Full Frame E-mount Lenses

In a recent interview Sigma CEO Kazuto Yamaki talked about some recently released lenses, plans for the future, the CINE series, the Sony lenses and a bit of baseball. And he comfirmed that they will make Full Frame E-mount lenses and keep developing APS-C E-mount lenses for Sony mirrorless cameras.

From Interview: (at 9:26)

Q: A lot of our customers are asking about the Sony E-mount. How are things looking for dedicated FE lenses in the future? Will they be unique designs or new mounts on the existing Global Vision Series lenses?

Kazuto Yamaki: Our plan is to expend more E-mount lenses and make FE mount lenses. I can’t comment in specifically but we are studying in both ways.

The previous rumor said Sigma is actively working on two new FE lenses for Sony E mount mirrorless cameras: Sigma FE 35mm f/1.4 (or f/1.2) autofocus lens and a new FE zoom lens, probably Sigma FE 24-105mm f/4 lens. The official announcement is expected to take place in Q4 of 2017.

The size of this new Sigma FE 35mm lens is expected to be somewhere in between the current Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 and the Zeiss 35mm f/2.8. And it will be much cheaper than the Sony/Zeiss FE lenses.
