Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens DxOMark Review: Best 24mm Lens for Nikon

DxOMark published their test results for the Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Nikon F mount ($849 at AmazonB&HAdorama). According to the DxOMark test result on Nikon D810, Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens is the best 24mm wide-angle prime lens for Nikon DSLR cameras. A superb performer!

Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens won the “Best Expert DSLR Prime Lens” award at 2015 Technical Image Press Association awards (TIPA). And, it is one of the best wide-angle prime lenses according to the DxOMark test results.

Combining a fast maximum aperture with a wide-angle lens that opens up intriguing photo opportunities, the SIGMA 24mm F1.4 DG HSM Art lens is designed for full frame sensors. It contains both “F” low dispersion (FLD) and Special Low Dispersion glass (SLD) to minimize chromatic aberration, especially at the edges of the image.

Conclusions from DxOMark:

Sigma is undoubtedly disrupting the market. Although we can’t really comment on the handling, AF operation, or build, the optical quality is equal, and in some cases superior, to the big brand names. That in itself wouldn’t be so disruptive if there weren’t such a price disparity. The fact that the Sigma 24mm f1.4 is available at around or more than half the price of the Nikon and Zeiss models and can compete with the more affordable options makes it all the more attractive. At just $849 currently, it is a thoroughly compelling choice, and particularly so if looking for an AF model.
