Rumor: Sony a7III Coming This Fall, to Have 24MP Sensor and the Same A9 Autofocus System

Sony already announced the Sony a9 ($4,498) high end full frame E mount mirrorless camera. The next big announcement from Sony should be the Sony a7III.

The previous rumor said Sony a7 III mirrorless camera will be released in November 2017. And Sony is actively working on a new FE 400mm f/4.0 lens.

Today according to the report from SAR, the upcoming Sony a7III camera will feature a new 24MP sensor (the same Sony a9 sensor) and it will have the exact same Sony A9 autofocus system without the 20fps frame rate. It seems that the Sony a7III will be a baby Sony a9. If the price is around $2o00, I believe it will be a hot product. The source also said the Sony a7III camera will be announced this Fall, sometimes between October-November.

The Previous Rumored Specs of Sony a7III:

  • 24.3MP
  • 4K video
  • Improved AF (speed, accuracy, frame coverage, settings)
  • A fully articulated touchscreen
  • BSI sensor
  • AA filter or global shutter in silent mode.
