Nikon to Update the 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED VR Lens in 2016

Current Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED VR Lens

In January 2016 Nikon update the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G lens and announced two new DX lenses: AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR and AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G – one with VR, one without. The new AF-P stands for “fast and quiet AF with adoption of a stepping motor for AF drive operation”.

And, today the rumor mill is back with some infomation about the replacement for the AF-S NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED VR lens. According to the report coming out of NikonRumors, Nikon is rumored to update the 10-year old 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED VR lens ($496.95) in the next few months, that means we’ll see the 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED VR replacement in 2016. And the rumors said the replacement will come in two versions: one with VR, one without, just like the AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G.

If the rumors are ture, I think the announcement date of the new 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G lenses will be around Photokina 2016 in September.
