New Sigma Mirrorless Lenses to be Announced in 2015

Sigma is working on a number of new lenses, including models aimed at mirrorless cameras that will be announced in 2015. This info is confirmed by Sigma CEO Kazuto Yamaki, in an extensive interview with DSLR Magazine.

Kazuto Yamaki says Sigma is planning to expand their line of mirrorless (DN) lenses in response to the growing market. So new Sigma mirrorless lenses are definitely being developed and the line-up will be expanded in the near future.

He says Sigma will NOT attend CES in 2015, so we have to wait until CP+ Camera & Photo Imaging Show 2015 (February 12-15, 2015) to see new products.

The CEO also says that Sigma might not launch any optics for Sony FE-mount cameras. It is hard to create such lenses due to the mount’s small width.

There is a vague hint: Sigma is working on a new 85mm f/1.4 lens. And the 50mm f/1.4 Art is a huge success, so another another 50mm f/1.4 lens is not being planned.

In order to find out Sigma’s plans for the future, stay tuned to Camera Times!
