Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM Successor on the Way

Canon is working on a new wide angle f/2.8 zoom lens to replace the current Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM, which was released in 2007.

Many event photographers are still looking for a new fast wide-angle zoom lens similar to EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM. The new released EF 11-24mm f/4L USM lens is the best zoom lens ever and it provides users with access to the “widest angle of view5 yet achieved for a rectilinear full-frame DSLR zoom lens.” But, it is too heavy and too expensive. So a new version of fast wide-angle zoom lens is still required.

According to the rumors, the new wide angle f/2.8 zoom lens will change the focal length range and it will be lighter.

And this new lens will not be announced before the release of Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II.
