Canon is Actively Working on EF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS Lens

I already reported that Canon is working on a new EF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens and this lens will be more expensive than EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM ($100 off now), and it will not replace the current EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM.

According to the latest news from CR, Canon is actively working on an EF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS lens and this new lens will be released in the next 18-24 months at the earliest. Canon didn’t release this lens because the size is too big when with image stabilization feature, so Canon released a smaller EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II instead.

There are two or three prototypes exist in testing, but no final design has been decided on. The new 24-70mm standard zoom lens with Image Stabilization feature will provide better performance than anything currently in the Canon lineup. And the new EF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS lens will featured with new BR element as on EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM Lens.

Stay tuned for more info.
