Canon 6D Mark II Rumored to be Announced in Late 2015

The UK ‘EOS’ camera magazine mentioned the upcoming Canon EOS 6D Mark II and it said the 6D Mark II will be announced later this year.

And, the Canon 1D X successor will come fairly soon, the 5D3 and 6D sucessor will be later.

The previous rumor said the Canon EOS 6D Mark II DSLR camera will move upmarket “slightly” and it will be “Slightly” more professional & expensive than the 6D. And Canon is currently testing two test units (different sensor resolutions) of Canon EOS 6D Mark II camera: 24MP and 28MP.

I’m still minded to think that whilst we’ll see a sucessor to the 1D X announced fairly soon, that the follow up to the 5D3 and 6D will be later.

If the 5D4 becomes some ‘X’ model with 4k video and other whistles and bells, then it might leave space for a move upwards in 6D2 specs.

Currently, the Canon EOS 6D body retails for only $1,399 at Amazon and this is a very good price for a full-frame DSLR with built-in wi-fi and GPS.

Below are the new rumored specs of Canon 6D Mark II:

  • Smaller in size and lighter in weight than Canon 6D.
  • its own full frame image sensor.
  • NFC
  • “New connectivity feature”
  • 28MP
  • 6 fps
  • ISO 100 – 102400 (expandable to 204800)
  • new AF system (but not the same as on 5DS)
  • 98% viewfinder coverage
  • Single SD card slot
  • WiFi, NFC, and GPS
  • small improvements for video features
  • pricing around $2,100

Canon’s next announcement will be on August 14th and Canon will announce a DSLR camera body and two lenses at that time.

Let’s wait and see!

Stay tuned for more info.
