5 Problems / Downsides of the Sony a7RII

Max Yuryev listed the 5 problems / downsides of the new Sony a7RII. But, in my opinion, Sony a7RII is the best full frame mirrorless camera in the world and it is even the killer of the new Canon 5DS R. We all know that Sony a7RII is a spec monster and it has many great new features: 42MP, BIONZ X Image Processor, Internal UHD 4K Video & S-Log2 Gamma, 5-Axis SteadyShot INSIDE Stabilization, ISO 102,400 and Silent Shutter Mode and more more more. So how can he find so many downsides of the new sony a7RII? What did he say? Just check out below!

Note: B&H says that all current Sony a7RII orders should be filled within a week and wait time on new orders is down to around 7 days. And the new Sony a7RII will ship within 2 to 5 weeks, according to Amazon US.

Dude! Read the camera manual. You are mistaken on how to move on the menu.

    • Ronn Murray

Exactly! The menu does indeed leave a lot to be desired but he is absolutely incorrect about moving from menu to menu.

  • Malcolm Lu

Wow this review feels like he is nitpicking small tiny issues that most of us don’t care about when buying a camera….

  • Andrei Goldobenko

You, Sir, are an idiot. Go out read the manuals, learn to use a camera (any camera from the sounds of it) properly and then go rant about it. Also touch screen is totally unnecessary- esp if your nose is constantly being pressed into it. Also – constantly pocking the screen will NOT do wonders for the quality of the picture you can see. As for image quality – the GH4 is really rather poor and very video-ish, and the NX1 suffers from poor color science. The a7rII does pixel bind form am FF readout – but then again Sony does tell you this (in the manual). Swap over to s35 and then tell us what you see. FYI – almost ALL non-dedicated video cameras pixel bind – at least to internal recording. As for that “full frame look” – its most needed on WIDE shots – not close up details – where a blurry background and small DOF is easy to get – with almost any size sensor. Getting the look of 24mm 1.5 (FF) THATS hard – and going wide is were you benefit most from having a FF sensor – appart from that modern s35 (APSC) sensors are off their FF bretherin by the TINIEST of margins, and in some cases – Fuji – they are better. So – appart from click-baiting with this post – go out and shoot shoot shoot – and preferably more than weddings, they are not a great way to judge a camera’s performance, at least a NEW to YOU camera’s performance.
